Description
The Oil doesn't want to be Oil anymore- it wants to be Water. That Water Goddess lady can give them that. ^_^I'm pleased with the result, minus the corny lensflare in the background, but I was unable to remove it afterwards.
Mix of inspiration for this one- I'd say it'd be those little soot balls from Spirited Away, mixed in with the results of watching a Victoria's Secret fashion show. ^_^
Please look at the bigger version- it's better quality. As always, critiques, comments, sarcastic remarks, wordless motions, etc, etc, etc are always welcome!!

You asked for a crit on how to make the oil more ...oily. I am not really sure, but if your highlights were a little brighter white and harsh it may start to look a little more oily and shiny and wet. Now it looks like a mud that came to life, which isn't bad

@ Robertmekis: I'm glad you liked it Robert! When I initially sketched this picture out, I wanted to try and set it up like a snapshot of an event that was actually happening. I'm glad I got some success!
@ Yerffej: Next big piccy I'll do, I'll work on better backgrounds. At this point, the foggy background was to keep focus on the subject, but there were probably better ways of going about it. ^_^ And although I wasn't thinking about Noah's work at the time, now that I think about it he probably has left an impression. He rules! ^_^
@ Gianna: Thanks for the suggestion Gianna! I'll try that next time I work on living oil creatures reaching towards a goddess of water.

You should work on your lighting. Don't just shade by mixing colors with black or white. Think about the color of the lightsource. White light makes pictures dull Look up some color theory to learn to pick your colors better and achieve lighting effects.
The background is what I think could be more improved. It seems rushed and the lensflare cheapens it. You should get a sky/smoke/fog reference for the mood of your picture and paint from it.
The oil creatures are a really nice idea. The remind me of the type of creatures that sometimes appear in Miyazaki's films.

great concept and beautifully brought to paper.

Thanks
I completely agree about the lensflare! There's actually a funny story behind that thing, but it's a bit long.
Thank you Kyena! I'm glad you like this too (being a *small* admirer of your work............*hides Kyena fan accessories*)

I'm not entirely sure that I like the background although I can't really think of anything that would fit better. (:

Love the idea, It's very nice. My only crit is her chin, but that's more of preference. I like to draw women with more delicate features.
