Description
Everyone meet Tumbleweed! She's a fairy, and my new best friend. ^_^ Sometimes you'll see her wings, other times you'll just see her pointy ears........maybe she should take up wearing a hat....First up I would like to offer my most humble apologies for sketching such a generic anime pose.
I've smooshed all the things I've learnt in my past pictures (face is from 'Yellow', hair is from 'Lady Luck', shading technique is from a picture yet to be published) and created this little ditty.
Just another character illustration, and a small experiment with anime. Still, I really appreciate any comments and suggestions. I see that the perspective is off on the legs, but I don't know how I would make it look better. Notice more than that? Fire away!
If anyone's interested, I've attached a couple little process images if you want to see how I bumbled my way through this. ^_^ Cheers!

Well, keep up the good work.

If the quality of the clothes can match the very well done look of the skin and hair, you have a solid piece.I dont think the pose looks too generic, maybe I dont see enough anime stuff.Proportions look correct, and no anotomical issues. You know I'm not a fan of white b/g's,but if the character stands out enough,it works. That's the main reason a little more color could be used in the clothes, especially the shirt.
I hope I haven't rambled too much, you've got another solid foundation here. And if your intentionally going for this look?Diregard everything I've just said^_^

One thing I thought I should mention is that she's supposed to be leaning back on her right hand (the one you can't see). Are you supposed to be able to see some of that hand behind her back, or am I right to have it hidden? Same goes for her hidden foot, I think...
@
I didn't notice that about her chest- thanks for mentioning it! ^_^ I think her arms may be tucked in too close to her torso too, despite the puffy shoulder pads. Hm...Yep, should have spent more time on the initial sketch. I'm glad you still like it! I'm seeing the improvement myself, especially from my first GFX submission 'Raine'. Anyone remember what that was like?? Lol
@
My first rendering of the hair was too washed out, so I added some darker shadows and brighter highlights. I think I might make a third sweep of this and darken the shadows some more. Thanks for the suggestion!

Lol, I'm not going to disregard your comment.
Thanks again for the critiques! I'll be working to make my next piccy better- I'm learning a lot behind the scenes.

I'm not sure if it is the anime style or a personal preference, but don't you think the fairy could use some more shading? Like the legs for example, or her skirt.

I think i'm the busiest guy on earth, at the moment

I think everything that could be said, has. I think what seems off to me is the lack of a tonal range in her legs, with them all flat they seem to disappear in comparison to the rest of the figure. Her hair looks great to me, and her expression is a nice mix of confidence and mischief.. Perhaps a bit of shading on the ground so she doesn't look as though she's floating there. Nice job

Thanks a bunch everyone! You've all been a huge help ^_^ Here, everybody have some cake! *hands out slices of cake*

I really like the style of your art. I also really enjoy seeing all the differences and growth that is evident in your work. I can say that I enjoy this one because it has a very playful presentation. I like the hearts a lot.
I am a fan of anime, but only slightly so because I can't say that I would have recognised this as a "generic anime pose". Even if it is, I don't think that should take away from this at all.

I think she's perfect. Bravo.

I like it so much.

I'm glad you like it. ^_^ My sister didn't like the hearts actually, she said they weren't very mature.
I think the pose is a little generic anime, coupled with the school-girl-type uniform. Search around the net and I'm sure you'll find plenty of anime pics with similar poses from all angles.
I'm happy to see you're still a fan
Thanks everyone!

No it's really nice. Perhaps you could have shaded her eyes a bit...?

Gary, not to worry! ^_^ We can all procrastinate together.
Thanks again peoples!

By the way thanks for the helpful critique/nice comment on my robby rabbit picture, I'm not sure how to reply to comments o I guess I'll just thank you here ><
Yeah, I actually wanetd to get the yucky edges effect on purpose, I think you're right and it made it look more muddy/dirty, I was kinda going for that effect XP
But you're also right on the blood around his mouth, I should have gotten much more detailed there x___X
and actually I don't use photoshop, I used corel painter 8 for that picture X3
and I just got corel painter 9! HOORAY! -draws- oh yeah, and I didn't trace the image, I just kinda looked at it on my miniature-monitor while I drew it on my main one X3 <3
